The aim of the proposal is to highlight that people make cities. Dundee is an extremely people driven city and by makng spaces which allow for others to interact it will highten the sense of belonging which many locals argue dundee has lost the aspect of.
Activating the heart of Dundee (The city centre and the Docks) is the key driver for this proposal. By making an area which has low foot traffic and turning it into a path of destinations and key points, it will allow for the
activity to rise.
The site is situated near local hotels and the main bus station which connects Dundee to other major cities in Scotland (e.g Edinburgh, Glasgow.). Currently the amount of day visits in comparison to night visits in
Dundee has a noticible difference to each other. By
taking advantage of the area of this site and aiming for it to turn into a key zone of activity at the historic docks and local tourists/residents this seeks to not only raise the tourism visits but also the economy and sense of identity for the people in Dundee.
